Monday deadline for panel talk on cancer research in Nebraska

UNMC’s Hamid Band, M.D., Ph.D., Sam Sanderson, Ph.D., and Lora Frecks will be among those to participate in a panel discussion on cancer research that will run in conjunction with the American Cancer Society’s Relay for Life in Lincoln.

The panel discussion, which will be hosted by Bio Nebraska, starts at 4:30 p.m. on Friday, July 25 in the Diamond View Lounge at Lincoln’s Haymarket Park.

The discussion will focus on the state of cancer research in Nebraska.

The registration deadline for the panel discussion is Monday and the cost for the event is $10 for Bio Nebraska members and $20 for non-members. The costs covers the panel discussion, a stadium-style meal, networking opportunities with panelists, Bio Nebraska members and other participants. Contact Erica Johnson at ejohnson@bionebraska.org to register.

Haymarket Park also will be the site of the Relay for Life that night. During the event, 3,500 cancer survivors, family members and friends will walk laps around the park’s baseball field all night to raise funds for cancer research, honor survivors and remember those lost.
