Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee to feature.
This week, we feature Melissa Diers, instructional designer in information technology services.
Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Melissa:
Most of what I know about educational information technology is self-taught. I hold a bachelor’s degree in fine art and a master’s degree in education.
I enjoy volunteering for the neighborhood homeowners association board, as the Boxtops School Coordinator and serving as the vice president of the community club (PTA) at my son’s elementary school.

I met my husband, Bob, in 1983 and decided he was a keeper 14 years later. We exchanged vows in 1997.
I am the proud mother of two sons — Ian, who is 8 1/2, and Alec, who is 3 1/2. I would rather have their pictures posted in the article than mine. (EDITOR’S NOTE: Please notice the compromise in the picture to the right.)
I have been employed at UNMC for 12 years. One of the best attributes about my position is the opportunity to work with various people within the system.
