Zhixin “Jason” Zhang, Ph.D., associate professor in the department of pathology and microbiology, is one of the many new faculty members on campus.

Name: Zhixin “Jason” Zhang, Ph.D.

Title: Associate professor in the department of pathology and microbiology, College of Medicine.

Duties: Research and teaching.

Research Interests: The research work in Dr. Zhang’s laboratory focuses on understanding the molecular regulation of B lineage cell development. B lineage cells are the major players in our immune system to make antibodies against infection agents. Using the new knowledge obtained from basic research works to investigate the pathogenesis of different immunological diseases is Dr. Zhang’s long term research goal and daily practice.

Education: Ph.D., University of Alabama-Birmingham, 1997.

Previous position: Before join UNMC, Dr. Zhang was an assistant professor in the division of developmental and clinical immunology at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.
