UNMC was selected to receive the $7,000 award, which provided the funds for Dr. Yanoff to come and spend three days with the medical center’s ophthalmology faculty earlier this month. Dr. Yanoff is one of the world’s leading academic ophthalmologists and being able to spend three days with him in lectures and other settings was incredibly valuable to UNMC’s ophthalmology faculty, Dr. Camras said. “It was a very rewarding experience for us to be able to have Dr. Yanoff come here and spend time with our faculty,” Dr. Camras said. “He’s a true leader who’s written as much as anyone in the world about the field of ophthalmology.” Dr. Camras credited the work of UNMC ophthalmology faculty members Sushma Rai, M.D., and Shannon Lynch, M.D., with helping securing the grant and enabling Dr. Yanoff’s visit. |
