“Hands-on” NIH grants training sessions Sept. 19

Does your job require you to put together the pieces of the NIH grant puzzle? Do you find yourself wondering if you know all the right pieces? If you do, this training opportunity is for you.

Sponsored Programs Administration and the Office of Budget and Analysis are co-hosting “hands-on” training sessions about the mysteries contained in the new NIH forms. To unravel the mystery, attend the Sept. 19 campus training session.

The NIH began requiring the use of new forms Jan. 1. September’s informational training sessions are designed to:

  • Reveal buried secrets of new NIH forms;
  • Reduce anxiety of cost accounting standards;
  • Disclose inside information on how SPA reviews grants;
  • Discover new keys to NIH guidelines;
  • Unravel clues to complete new NIH forms; and
  • Dispel the mystery of Facilities and Administration (F&A) costs (previously known as indirect costs).

To accommodate as many people as possible, participants can choose to attend a morning (9 to 11 a.m.) or afternoon (1 to 3 p.m.) session in the Eppley Science Amphitheater. Complete the online form by Sept. 9 to register. If you have questions regarding the training opportunity, contact Elizabeth Fowlkes at 559-5222 or efowlkes@unmc.edu.

Individuals are strongly encouraged to attend as many training opportunities as possible. The sessions will develop one’s skills in compliance and grant management.
