Celebrating pharmacy week

From left: Courtney Fletcher, Pharm.D., dean of the College of Pharmacy; John Ridgeway, UNMC pharmacy practice instructor; Aric Anderson, president of the UNMC chapter of the American Pharmacy Association’s Association of Student Pharmacists; Lt. Gov. Rick Sheehy and Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey at a ceremony Wednesday to commemorate National Pharmacy Week.

The ceremony was in the Durham Research Center and featured remarks by Dr. Fletcher, Fahey as well as Sheehy’s reading of a proclamation regarding National Pharmacy Week, which is Oct. 20-24.

More than 200 students, faculty, alumni and others turned out for the ceremony, which was the highlight of a full slate of student activities held in recognition of pharmacy week.

The week’s activities were meant to raise awareness about the importance of the pharmacy profession and the many ways pharmacists contribute to health care.
