Closer still but United Way goal not yet met

picture disc.It looks like the campus United Way campaign may go down to the wire again.

Last year, the campaign came down to the last day with the campus community reaching its goal with a surge of donations in the final days of the drive. It looks like it will take something similar this year.

As of Wednesday afternoon, UNMC employees had raised $130,122 during the 2008 United Way fund drive. That total is about 92 percent of the campus goal of $140,980.

UNMC has done this with just 30 percent of medical center employees participating in this year’s drive. UNMC’s goal is 100 percent participation in the drive, which wraps up Friday.

“We are close to reaching our goal and we’ve done that with less than half of the campus participating in the drive,” said Jillian Carson, UNMC’s United Way campaign manger. “It’s not going to take much individually if the whole campus pitches in over the next two days.”
