Shawn Gibbs, M.D.

Shawn Gibbs, Ph.D., associate professor in the department of environmental, agricultural, and occupational health in the College of Public Health, is one of the many new faculty members at UNMC.

Title: Associate professor in the department of environmental, agricultural, and occupational health, College of Public Health.

Research Interests:

  • Environmental microbiology;
  • Biofilms in drinking water distribution systems;
  • Wastewater-drinking water cross-connections;
  • Microbial release from confined animal feeding operations;
  • Indoor air pollution; and
  • Bioaerosols.

Education:

  • Ph.D., University of Cincinnati, environmental science;
  • M.S., University of Cincinnati, environmental science; and
  • B.S., Ohio State University, biology.

Previous positions: Assistant professor, University of Texas Health Sciences Center at Houston; adjunct assistant professor, environmental engineering and science, University of Texas-El Paso.
