Burke High choir to present holiday Music as Medicine concert

Sounds of the holiday will fill the Durham Outpatient Center’s West Atrium on Thursday when Burke High School’s Burke Ensemble performs.

The free holiday concert, which runs from noon to 1 p.m., is part of the popular Music as Medicine series.

The ensemble is an auditioned group, drawn from the entire student body at Burke High School. Ensemble members sing styles of music ranging from classical to Broadway and jazz.

During the holiday season, the ensemble performs for church groups, clubs, elementary schools, and assisted living homes. This month they will have as many as 15 performances.

This is the second-consecutive year the Burke choir has performed during the December Music as Medicine concert.

Everyone is encouraged to bring lunch and enjoy the uplifting holiday music. This concert is sponsored by the College of Nursing.

The next Music as Medicine concert will be on Jan. 15 and will feature music from the Omaha Chamber Music Society.
