Three members of UNMC Public Affairs recently were recognized during the 2008 Public Relations Society of America (PRSA) Nebraska Chapter 2008 Holiday Gala & Awards Ceremony on Thursday night.

Jo Giles, diversity/media relations specialist, received an award for Special Achievement in Public Relations. The award honors a member for an outstanding singular achievement or for the outstanding representation of the profession through his or her job.

Giles and Andrew Nelson, photographer/videographer, received the Social Media Tactics award for tactics that get key audiences talking or provide an avenue for conversation through the use of different techniques, including viral marketing.

Nicole Lindquist, UNMC writer/media specialist, received the PRSA Nebraska Foundation James W. Leuschen Fellowship. The $500 award is given annually to a public relations practitioner who is working to earn an educational degree or seeking additional training or coursework in public relations and related fields. The Fellowship is named in memory of James W. Leuschen, a long-time PRSA Nebraska member and past president.
