That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”
Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee or student to feature.
This week, we feature Melinda Finken, an office associate in the UNMC Physician Assistant program.

- I am married to Ryan, a computer nerd (he prefers the term, “Geek”) who works for a home-building company in Omaha.
- I migrated to this side of the Missouri River 3 1/2 years ago. I grew up in a very small town in Iowa that had a population of about 350 people.
- I have one sister, Lindsey, who is 15 months younger than me, and a “little” brother, Will, who towers over me. He is 7 years younger than me.
- I am the first on my father’s side to graduate from college and am actually putting my office management degree to good use.
- Like many other women, I LOVE bags … handbags, purses, tote bags, all sorts of bags! I even have a calendar with a different vintage or modern handbag on it every day.
