UNMC employees can now view their pay statements online using Firefly.
The University of Nebraska annually spends $48,000 in paper costs to print pay stubs for employees. The cost of the stubs compounds when production and delivery costs are factored.
For Mac users
If you’ve experienced problems viewing W2’s and W2 documentation in Firefly using Firefox on a Mac, you will probably need to install a PDF plugin to view them. Use the following procedure to add the PDF plugin to Firefox:
- Launch Firefox.
- On the toolbar, click Tools -> Add-ons.
- When the Add-ons dialog box appears, make sure you’re in the Get Add-ons tab and click Browse All Add-ons.
- On the Firefox Add-ons page, in the search field, type PDF and then press Enter on your keyboard (or click the arrow on the Web page). This will open the Firefox PDF Plugin for Mac OS X.
- Click Add to Firefox (MacOSX) to install.
- After the plugin is installed, close Firefox and reopen, it will tell you the plug-in was successfully installed.

By viewing the statements online, employees can help the environment and the university’s budget.
Also, employees who chose to view their statements online can view the stub up to seven days before the pay date.
Not only does this help you budget your upcoming expenses, but it also provides the opportunity to verify that any exceptional pay (e.g. overtime, stipends, etc) has been calculated correctly.
