Health systems nurse specialists gather

Thirty-three students attended the third annual Health Systems Nurse Specialist (HSNS) August gathering Aug. 20-21 at the UNMC College of Nursing. HRSA’s Advanced Education Nursing Training Grant funds the HSNS nursing graduate program.

The two-day event allowed students to share their experiences with distance technology, update their skills with selected course management systems, learn what’s emerging in health-care delivery systems nationally and in Nebraska and build a student support network.

The HSNS program is designed to prepare nurses to provide leadership for reshaping nursing and health care in communities and health care organizations. There are three areas of focus for HSNS students: community health nursing, nursing administration, or nursing informatics. For more information visit their Web site at www.unmc.edu/HSNS/.
