Friends host Eppley Cancer Center open house

The Friends of the UNMC Eppley Cancer Center, a 15-member community based group committed to raising funds for cancer research, hosted a cancer center open house Wednesday, Sept. 18.

Cancer center researcher, Dr. Peggy Wheelock, explains the work of cell biologists on the 10th floor of the Lied Transplant Center.

The goal of the event was to raise interest and awareness of the cancer center’s innovative research, treatment options and encourage further community support.

Presentations were made on the progress of the cancer center, research initiatives and clinical capabilities. The evening ended with a tour of the Lied Transplant Center Cancer Treatment Center, Cooperative Care rooms, and a Lied laboratory presentation.
