Lookin’ at U – Steve Pera

picture disc.Quick, think of five things others should know about you.

That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”

Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee or student to feature.

This week, we feature Steve Pera, applications systems programmer in information technology services.

Here, in his own words, are five fun facts about Steve:

  • My wife, Janet Seger, is chairwoman of the department of physics at Creighton University. She has taught general physics to many pre-med students.

  • My son, Eric, who’s almost 7, plays YMCA basketball and my daughter, Sophia, 9, takes dance at The Rose Theater.

  • I play cello and guitar and sing (bass-baritone). I enjoy learning song cycles, such as Robert Schumann’s “Dichterliebe” or Ralph Vaughan Williams’ “Songs of Travel.”

  • The group I’m in, Learning Environment and Internet Services, is responsible for the existence and maintenance of UNMC Today.

  • My dad was a Lutheran pastor. Both my grandfathers were Lutheran pastors. Many other relatives have either been pastors or orthodox priests.

Read UNMC Today next Thursday to see who is featured in the next Lookin’ at U article. Who knows — it could be U.
