A pile of rubble is all that remains of the UNMC Campus Training Center, a nondescript concrete building with metal siding south of the Michael F. Sorrell Center for Health Science Education along 42nd Street.

Demolition crews have razed the building, also known as the 701 Building, to make way for parking, said Ron Tietgen, manager, architectural and engineering services in UNMC’s Facilities Management and Planning.

Crews began demolition in mid-March following a month of asbestos removal. Built in 1922, UNMC purchased the building in 1986 and used it for storage, office space and computer training classes. (Photo by Jacque Llyn-Wright, Facilities Management and Planning)
