Important procedures for NIH public access compliance

All National Institutes of Health (NIH)-funded investigators are required to submit their final, peer-reviewed manuscripts to PubMed Central upon acceptance for publication.

The NIH mandate applies to current NIH funding, including continuing NIH grants or cooperative agreements that are active in federal fiscal year 2008 and beyond.

Investigators must include PubMed Central ID (PM C ID) numbers when citing their own NIH-funded research publications in NIH applications, proposals and progress reports.

Responsibility lies with the investigator and requirements can be met in a number of ways. Robin Taylor, project coordinator from department of pharmacology and experimental neuroscience, will present a training session on compliance on Thursday, April 16 from noon to 1 p.m. in the Durham Research Center, Room 1004.
