‘Seven Doctors Project’ the focus of Schwartz Center Rounds

Several participants in the “Seven Doctors Project” will present original writings during the Schwartz Center Rounds on Thursday, May 14 at 11:45 a.m. in the Eppley Science Hall Amphitheater, Room 3010.

The project — the brainchild of Omaha-area poet Steve Langan — has paired UNMC faculty members with local writers in a writing workshop environment

The project started in early 2008 and, since then, three groups of faculty members have participated in the project.

Aside from the presentations of their writing, Langan and the project participants will discuss effects creative writing has had on their lives and their work.

UNMC faculty and staff members who will present on May 14 include:

  • Virginia Aita, Ph.D.;
  • Bruce Buehler, M.D.;
  • Gale Etherton, M.D.;
  • Andrew Jameton, Ph.D.;
  • Lydia Kang, M.D.;
  • Bud Shaw, M.D.;
  • Molly O’Dell, M.D.
  • Debra Reilly, M.D.;
  • Phil Smith, M.D.; and
  • Chuck Brown.

The following Omaha-area writers also will participate in the program:

  • Bob Huerter;
  • Liz Kay;
  • Steve Langan;
  • Todd Robinson, Ph.D.; and
  • Rebecca Rotert.

Lunch will be provided for the first 100 attendees.
