UNMC volunteer faculty member, former assistant professor, dies at age 43

Todd Hendrickson, M.D., volunteer faculty member and former UNMC assistant professor of psychiatry, died Wednesday evening (Oct. 2) as a result of an accident in his home. Funeral services are pending.

A 1985 graduate of the College of Medicine, Dr. Hendrickson completed his residency in psychiatry at the Creighton-Nebraska Department of Psychiatry from 1985 to 1989 and was an assistant professor at UNMC from 1989 to 1999. He served as director of medical student education for the department of psychiatry from 1994 to 1999.

Dr. Hendrickson, 43, joined UNMC’s volunteer faculty in January 2000. During his career in psychiatry, Dr. Hendrickson’s areas of interest included depression, chemical dependency, anxiety disorders, eating disorders and sports psychiatry. In the area of sports psychiatry, he served as a consultant for sports teams and numerous university and high school athletic programs. He is survived by his wife, Sharon Rowe.
