Physiology students receive awards at New Orleans conference

UNMC physiology students received awards at the Experimental Biology 2009 Meeting in New Orleans earlier this month.

Competitive awards were given by the American Physiological Society. The UNMC students who received awards were:

  • Sumit Kar, who received the David S. Bruce Award for Excellence in Undergraduate Research;
  • Sarah Clayton, who received the Caroline tum Suden/Frances Hellebrandt Professional Opportunity Award;
  • P. Richard Grimm, who received the Pfizer Pre-Doctoral Excellence in Renal Research Award;
  • Carmen Troncoso, who received the American Physiological Society, The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) Minority Travel Fellowship Award; and
  • Debra Irsik received the American Physiological Society, The National Institute of Diabetes and Digestive and Kidney Diseases (NIDDK) Minority Travel Fellowship Award.
