UNMC neurologist Sanjay Singh, M.D., will discuss how the brain works on Thursday, May 14 during the first Lincoln Science Cafe at red9 at 9th and M streets.

In February, Dr. Singh presented a similar discussion during a Science Cafe in Omaha that was attended by hundreds of members of the community. Dr. Singh’s presentation drew rave reviews from audience members and positive reaction from bloggers who attended the event.

The Lincoln event will run from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. and all ages are welcome to attend and purchase food until 9 p.m.

Science Cafes are hosted by UNMC, Bio Nebraska and the Nebraska Coalition of Lifesaving Cures and are part of an effort by UNMC and other groups to increase the population’s science literacy.

A more scientifically literate populace is a goal in UNMC’s strategic plan.

Science Cafes are a way to bring people together for informal science discussions at local coffeehouses and bars. Sparking interest in science among young adults is one of the primary objectives of the events.
