Durham Museum lecture focused on counterfeit detection

The Time Travelers program offers employees, students and their families free admission to the Durham Museum, as well as other programs throughout the year on the medical center campus and at the museum.




John Gutsmiedl will present “U.S. Secret Service — Counterfeit Detection Lecture” on Tuesday, June 9 at noon in the College of Nursing, Rooms 1011 and 1012. The lecture is part of the Time Travelers partnership between UNMC and The Durham Museum.

During the lecture, Gutsmiedl will discuss the role of the U.S. Secret Service and methods and technology for identifying counterfeiting.

Gutsmeidl began his career in 1989 in the United States Secret Service Los Angeles field office and has had roles in forgery, fraud, protective intelligence and presidential protection.

He currently is the resident agent in charge of the Secret Service office in Omaha.
