Board of Counselors names officers, welcomes new members

UNMC’s Board of Counselors elected officers for 2009 at its recent annual board meeting.

The officers are Rick Kolkman, chairperson, North Platte; and Don Goldstein, vice chairperson, Omaha.

Kolkman is president of First National Bank of North Platte. Goldstein is with Penske Truck Leasing in Omaha.

The UNMC Board of Counselors is a group of 62 community and business leaders from across the state who advise UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., on health care issues of importance.

The group welcomed nine new members at the meeting held at the Sorrell Center for Health Science Education on the UNMC campus in Omaha.

New board members by hometown are:

  • Blair — S. Michael Jensen, CEO of Great Plains Communications, Inc.;
  • Grand Island — William Armstrong, investment planner with Edward Jones;
  • Lincoln — Angela Muhleisen, CEO and president, Union Bank and Trust Co.; Lisa Smith, former chair, Lincoln Juvenile Diabetes Chapter;
  • Omaha — Robert Belgrade, partner of Belgrade Company; Curt Hofer, residential and commercial builder and developer, Jasper Stone Properties; Christopher Kirchner, vice president, corporate affairs, ConAgra Foods, Inc., and president, ConAgra Foundation; Natalia Peart, Ph.D., CEO of YWCA Omaha;
  • North Platte — Lorre McKeone, president of The Executive Extra.
