Lawrence Dorr, M.D.

Friday’s event will run from 8 to 11:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010 and will feature:
  • A presentation from visiting professor Lawrence Dorr, M.D., titled “Medicine, My Medicine.” Dr. Dorr is founder and medical director of The Dorr Arthritis Institute in Los Angeles and a world leader in hip and joint replacement surgery and research;
  • Final oral presentations from the graduating residents; and
  • Mark Gilbert’s presentation of a seminar titled “Art and Medicine.” Gilbert — a portrait artist from Scotland who served as UNMC’s artist-in-residence for two years, completed a series of portraits of patients and caregivers as part of a research project that explored the connections between art and medicine.

A total joint symposium will be held on Saturday from 8 to 11:30 a.m. in the Sorrell Center, Room 2010 and will feature scientific lectures and case presentations, including a seminar from Dr. Dorr titled “Orthopedic Antitoxin.”

Both Friday and Saturday’s events are open to all who wish to attend. Contact residency coordinator Geri Miller at 559-2258 or gmiller@unmc.edu for more information about the events.
