Seven awards for excellence in teaching, research and service were presented recently to faculty and staff of the UNMC College of Nursing.

The award winners were:

  • Lissa Clark, instructor, UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division — Teaching Excellence Award: Dean of the College of Nursing, which acknowledges a current full or part-time faculty member for teaching excellence.

  • Rita Antonson, instructor, UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division — The Ada M. Lindsey Professional Service Award, which acknowledges a current full or part-time faculty member for service in clinical practice or professional service excellence.

  • Bernice Yates, Ph.D., associate professor, UNMC College of Nursing in Omaha, received two awards — the Pennie Z. Davis Faculty Research Award and the Donna Westmoreland Excellence in Faculty Mentoring Award. The Davis award recognizes contributions to nursing science while the Westmoreland award is awarded for demonstrated excellence in mentoring faculty or graduate assistants in teaching or teaching scholarship.

  • Cindy Seidl, assistant professor, UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division — Rosalee C. Yeaworth Teaching Excellence Award, which acknowledges a faculty member for teaching excellence.

  • Leeza Moyer, instructor, UNMC College of Nursing Lincoln Division — Kathryn Sandahl Philp Award for Creativity and Innovation. Kathryn Sandahl Philp is a UNMC alumna and the award acknowledges and supports faculty creativity and innovation in teaching, research or practice/service.

  • Diane Feldman, UNMC College of Nursing Kearney Division —
    Staff Excellence Award, which is presented to a staff member who has made exemplary contributions to the college in the past year, including embodying the spirit of the college, customer service or respect of individuals for their cultures, contributions and points of view.

    I would like to comment on the award that Cindy Seidl received. I was a student in Cindy's Medical/Surgical class last semester, and I experienced her teaching excellence first hand. Thank you Cindy for all the knowledge you shared, and best wishes for another great year!
