Orthopaedic hospital ranks No. 1 in consumer reports

Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital (NOH) has topped Consumer Reports’ list of the best hospitals in Nebraska.

NOH received a score of 88 out of 100, which is five points higher than the next hospital in Nebraska and six points higher than any hospital in Omaha.

About the hospital

Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital — which opened in 2004 — is the only orthopaedic specialty hospital of its kind in the state of Nebraska.

The hospital — which is at 144th and W. Center Road in Omaha — is a partnership between 27 orthopaedic surgeons and UNMC’s hospital partner — The Nebraska Medical Center.

Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital provides inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures as well as outpatient physical and occupational therapy and MRI.

Regionally, NOH ranks as the top hospital in both Nebraska and Iowa.

“We are very pleased to be identified by Consumer Reports as the best hospital in Nebraska,” said Tom Macy, Nebraska Orthopaedic Hospital Chief Executive Officer. “I attribute our continued success to the dedication of our physicians and staff. Their focus every day is to provide the highest level of orthopaedic care.”

A recent patient of NOH, John Larsen of Fremont, decided to have his surgery after his wife’s great experience at the hospital.

“When my wife had surgery, what impressed me was the room, the facility and how friendly the people were,” Larsen said. “I tell people to go there for their surgery and to use the same doctors we did. They were great.”

Consumer Reports’ Hospital Ratings are based on the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems, or HCAHPS survey, which receives responses from more than 1 million patients.
