Lookin’ at U – Anja Loftus

picture disc.Quick, think of five things others should know about you.

That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”
Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee or student to feature.

This week, we feature Anja Loftus, office associate in the Morehead Center for Nursing Practice.

Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Anja:

  • My husband, Matt, and I both grew up on Council Bluffs, Iowa, went to rival high schools, and never met until we ended up living on the same dorm floor at the University of Iowa. We also discovered that my mom and her siblings went to high school with Matt’s dad and his siblings in Missouri Valley.

  • We have two dogs, both miniature schnauzers. Their names are Micky D and Ashley.

  • I’ve co-chaired our general staff organization at the College of Nursing for two years now and am proud to be a part of such a highly gifted team of staff members.

  • I absolutely love going on cruises! We’ve been on five so far. We’ve visited Alaska, the Caribbean and Europe. My favorite place we’ve visited has been Italy.

  • I grew up going with my parents to the “Street of Dreams,” an annual event in which a neighborhood is chosen and the residents open their homes to the public. Ironically, my husband now is a part of a family business called Centurion Stone of Nebraska, which sells and installs stone veneer. Their work has been on the Street of Dreams this year as well as years past, which has given me yet another reason to look forward to going.
