Donation surge needed in final day of United Way drive

picture disc. With a history of late donation surges, UNMC once again has its United Way campaign goal in its sights as the campaign moves into its final day.

As of Thurday, employees had donated $134,047 during the campaign, which ends today. That total is 94 percent of UNMC’s goal of $143,094.

Also, as of Thursday, 1,146 employees — or about 31 percent of UNMC’s workforce — had participated in the drive. UNMC seeks 100 percent participation in the fund drive.

“In the past, our employees have stepped up to donate more than $10,000 on the campaign’s final day, so it’s very reasonable to believe we can reach our goal by the end of the day today,” said Kacie Gerard, UNMC’s United Way campaign manager. “We have many employees who have yet to participate in the drive and I’m confident that if they do, our goal will be achieved easily.”

Also, those who participate this morning still have a chance to be entered into this afternoon’s prize drawing to be eligible to win prizes such as tickets to Nebraska’s Nov. 21 football game against Kansas State and gift cards to local businesses.
