Lookin’ at U – Carly Crim

picture disc.Quick, think of five things others should know about you.

That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”
Each Thursday, we will randomly select a medical center employee or student to feature.

This week, we feature Carly Crim, coordinator of the Summer Medical and Dental Education Program.

Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Carly:

Carly Crim
  • I grew up in Wyoming, where one summer I planted 2,000 lodge pole pines and 3,000 antelope bitterbrush in the Bridger-Teton National Forest while I worked for the U.S. Forest Service Youth Conservation Corps.

  • Before coming to UNMC, I taught middle school for 13 years (English, math and mostly history).

  • I have an Australian Cattle Dog named “Dooley Barlow,” who is exactly like his namesake from Jan Karon’s books — sometimes unruly, but worth a million bucks!

  • During my high school years, I traveled with my parents for their work and went to correspondence school. Those travel experiences have stayed with me and I still enjoy traveling. My favorite vacations? historical sites, snorkeling and Lana’i, Hawaii.

  • I love to golf and would do it daily, if only I didn’t have to work! Best golf experiences? The Challenge at Manele in Lana’i City, Hawaii, and Rivercliff Golf Course in Bull Shoals, Ark.

Read UNMC Today next Thursday to see who is featured in the next Lookin’ at U article. Who knows — it could be U.
