March of Dimes honorees include UNMC nurse faculty, students

Kathy Morris, D.N.P., top, and Corey Smidt, UNMC College of Nursing Kearney Division, left, and Jackie Tewes, UNMC College of Nursing in Omaha, were honored recently by the Nebraska Chapter of the March of Dimes. (Photos provided by the UNMC College of Nursing.)

UNMC’s Kathy Morris, D.N.P., recently received the Distinguished Nurse Award from the Nebraska Chapter of the March of Dimes.

Linda Sather, Ed.D., and Susan Beidler, Ph.D., also were honored with the Excellence in Nursing Award for exemplary service and Jackie Tewes, College of Nursing-Omaha, and Corey Smidt, Kearney Division, were two of six Nebraska nursing students to receive the Student Nurse Excellence Award.

The awards were given by the Nebraska Chapter of the March of Dimes and Children’s Hospital and Medical Center at a ceremony during which 114 Nebraska nurses were recognized for their dedication to the profession and quality patient outcomes.
