About 300 employees, students and their friends and family members enjoyed a free concert on Monday night by piano prodigy Behzod Abduraimov.

The performance, which was held in the Joslyn Art Museum’s Witherspoon Concert Hall, was hosted by UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D., his wife, Beverly, and Michael and Gail Walling Yanney, M.D., co-chairs of the UNMC Campaign Committee for Campaign for Nebraska.

The concert also featured performances by singer Kirstin Kluver and the University of Nebraska-Lincoln’s Bathtub Dogs.

“We held this concert to say thank you to our employees and students for all that they do,” Dr. Maurer said. “They truly are what makes this place great and we wanted them to know we truly appreciate them.”

Abduraimov — who won the prestigious London International Piano Competition in May — played selections from Franz Liszt, Franz Schubert, Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky and Georges Bizet.

Kluver, who was accompanied by Hal France on piano, sung tunes from “Thoroughly Modern Millie,” “Babes in Arm,” “Wicked” and “Chicago.”

The Bathtub Dogs, meanwhile, belted out a capella versions of Coldplay and Elvis Presley songs.

After the concert, dessert was served outside the concert hall.
