Be safe near snow removal equipment

(EDITOR’S NOTE: The following is note from the UNMC Safety Leadership Team.)

The UNMC Safety Leadership Team reminds everyone to be alert around snow removal equipment.

It is difficult for the operators to see everything and everyone around them.

UNMC equipment operators have reported several near misses with both pedestrians and vehicles when people try to “beat” the plow.

The most dangerous time is when the equipment is backing because the equipment operator does not have a clear view of everything behind the equipment.

Don’t assume the operator sees you and that they know what path or action you will take.

Play it safe and be careful when walking or driving around this equipment.
