VanderMeulen elected to national PA organization board

UNMC’s Stephane VanderMeulen, assistant professor and academic coordinator in the School of Allied Health Professions’ physician assistant (PA) program, was elected to a director at large position on the Physician Assistant Education Association (PAEA) Board of Directors.

VanderMeulen begins her two-year term this month. Board members make policy and provide strategic direction for the nation’s only organization representing PA educational programs.

VanderMeulen, who received her master of PA studies degree in 1994 from UNMC, is a doctoral candidate in human sciences/gerontology at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln.

She is the faculty adviser to the PA Student Society at UNMC and is chairwoman of the PAEA’s Awards Committee. She also serves as:

  • A member of the Healthcare Advisory Committee for U.S. Rep. Lee Terry;
  • A member of the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants’ Legislative
    Committee; and
  • Board liaison to the Nebraska State Board of Medicine and Surgery from the Nebraska Academy of Physician Assistants.
