Dr. Prentice elected president of animal welfare board

Ernest Prentice, Ph.D., associate vice chancellor for academic affairs, has been elected president of Scientists Center for Animal Welfare (SCAW) Board of Trustees.

Dr. Prentice, who served one other term of SCAW president in 1994-1995, began his current term on Jan. 1.

SCAW is composed of research professionals who aim to balance animal welfare and excellence in basic and applied scientific inquiry.

Dr. Prentice is a national leader in research ethics and research subject protection. He has held numerous leadership positions in this area including a four-year stint as chairman of a federal committee that regulated human medical research.
