Lookin’ at U – Sheila Shanle

Each Thursday, we randomly select a medical center employee to feature.

This week, we feature Sheila Shanle, a patient registration clerk in the Munroe-Meyer Institute psychology department.

Here, in her own words, are five fun facts about Sheila:

• I grew up on a farm the oldest of five kids and attended a country school until the eighth grade. I graduated from Genoa High School.

• I would one day like to visit Brazil where the foreign exchange student that lived with us is from!

• Scott Shanle of the New Orleans Saints is my third cousin and former Nebraska volleyball star Laura Pilakowski is my first cousin.

• I’ve met music stars John Michael Montgomery, SheDaisy, Sara Grooves and Rascal Flatts.

• I was born with Spina Bifida and have had more than 13 surgeries. Kyle Meyer, Ph.D., (associate dean in the School of Allied Health Professions) used to be my physical therapist.
