The following is a list of recent achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students:

  • Laurey Steinke, Ph.D., assistant professor of biochemistry and molecular biology, and postdoctoral research fellow Rory Shalloch, Ph.D., recently served as judges during the Plattsmouth Middle School Science Fair. Dr. Steinke annually serves as a judge in the fair.

  • Ayman El-Mohandes, M.B.B.Ch., M.D., M.P.H., dean of UNMC’s College of Public Health, Carl Smith, M.D., medical director of the Olson Center for Women’s Heath and professor and chairman of the UNMC department of obstetrics and gynecology and Anita Jaynes, UNMC nurse/midwife, traveled to Indonesian to focus on improving the quality of hospital care available to mothers and infants.

  • Susan Beidler, Ph.D., associate professor in the College of Nursing, will be inducted as a fellow in the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners on June 23 during the academy’s 25th national conference in Phoenix. Fellows are nurse practitioner leaders who have made outstanding contributions to health care through clinical practice, research, education, or policy.
