Connie Yori to speak at annual retiree luncheon

Nebraska women’s basketball coach Connie Yori — the 2010 National Coach of the Year — will be the keynote speaker at the University of Nebraska’s annual retiree luncheon May 20.

The event draws hundreds of retired faculty and staff each year from all four campuses. This year’s luncheon, hosted by NU President James B. Milliken, J.D., and Nana Smith, is at 11:30 a.m. at the Embassy Suites Hotel, 1040 P St. in Lincoln.

Transportation will be provided from the UNMC campus.

RSVPs can be made to Shelly Beachler at 1-800-542-1602 or sbeachler@nebraska.edu. Attendees are asked to RSVP by May 12.

Yori swept the major coaching awards for 2009-2010 as she led the Huskers to their best season in school history, which included:

An unbeaten regular season;
The first Big 12 regular season championship in school history;
The first NCAA Tournament No. 1 in school history; and
The program’s first Sweet 16 appearance.
