UNMC nursing student and University of Nebraska at Kearney tennis player Kristen Messbarger has been named the 2010 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Year.
The following is a list of recent achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students:

Nebraska’s first Lymphomathon 5K walk, which was co-sponsored by UNMC and held last weekend at Mahoney State Park, raised nearly $89,000. The funds will benefit Nebraskans through free patient services and research grants.

Linsey Donner, a clinical laboratory science instructor in the School of Allied Health Professions, is one of eight undergraduate educators to receive the Early-Career Faculty Travel Award from the American Society for Microbiology (ASM). Each awardee receives funding to attend the ASM conference May 20-23 in San Diego and will be formally recognized at the conference.

Kristen Messbarger, a fourth-level student at the College of Nursing-Kearney Division who also plays tennis for the University of Nebraska at Kearney, was named the 2010 Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference Tennis Player of the Year. In addition, her doubles team with partner Katie-Mary Outhwaite was named first team all-conference.
