Ken Zhen, M.D., is the director of UNMC’s new radiation oncology residency program.
“It has been our goal to make this department a true creditable academic program that is not only to provide the cutting edge high quality patient care, but also to excel in research and education,” Dr. Zhen said. “An accredited residency program will give us a national recognition and privilege to educate and train the professionals to become future radiation oncologists.”

The program has received full accreditation from the American Councils for Graduate Medical Education and can facilitate up to four residents at any given time.

It will be one of about 70 radiation-oncology programs in the country.

“It took us a long time to build the ground work to this point,” Dr. Zhen said. “Being given full accreditation as a new program speaks for the high quality of this program and hard work by the faculty members and staff of this department at UNMC.”
