Members of the first class of the UNMC High School Alliance attended an open house at UNMC on Tuesday night.
Below is a list of recent achievements, activities and happenings involving UNMC staff, faculty and students.

The UNMC High School Alliance hosted an open house at the Sorrell Center on Tuesday that was attended by 35 of the 36 Omaha-area high school students who will take part in the program this fall. Through the program, the students will take health-care related classes at UNMC for both high school and college credit.

Kevin Campbell, Ph.D., of the University of Iowa will receive the McIntyre Award at a June 8 UNMC ceremony.

Eppley Institute gradudate student Sanjib Chowdhury recently received the 2010 AACR-Ortho Biotech Scholar-in-Training Award.
Kevin Campbell, Ph.D., professor in the department of internal medicine, director of the Wellstone Muscular Dystrophy Cooperative Research Center and chairman of the department of molecular physiology and biophysics at the University of Iowa, will receive the McIntyre Award on June 8 at a UNMC Ceremony. The award is named for Dr. A. Ross McIntyre, who was chairman of the UNMC Department of Physiology and Pharmacology from 1935 to 1967.

Sanjib Chowdhury, graduate student in the Eppley Institute in Dr. Michael Brattain’s lab, was the recipient of the 2010 AACR-Ortho Biotech Scholar-in-Training Award at the AACR (American Association for Cancer Research) 101st Annual Meeting in Washington in April. He was honored for his promising cancer research and the submission of a meritorious proffered paper selected for presentation at the annual meeting. Chowdhury received a $1,000 check and a certificate with his award.
