Test of computer emergency notification system today at 10 a.m.

Today at 10 a.m., UNMC will test the Desktop Emergency Notification system crawler.

Everyone is asked to document receipt of the test or any problems encountered during the test by completing a short survey using Survey Monkey.

Upon receiving the test or if you have not received the test by 10:40 a.m., please complete the DESKTOP EMERGENCY NOTIFICATION TEST SURVEY. (If link does not work cut and paste this address “http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/X276PD6” into your browser.)

The program that allows the system to work has been automatically downloaded to UNMC main campus computers that have been setup to received automatic updates.

Upon activation, a bell will sound on those computers with speakers and volume on. The test message will then scroll across the screen. Emergency messages will scroll for 10 minutes but the test message will be setup to scroll for 30 minutes. The user can cancel the scroll at any time during activation.

This emergency notification system is one of many notification methods that will be used for weather alerts and other emergencies that affect our campus.

It is important to make sure that others in your area are aware of messages about real events.
