Lookin’ at U – Brandon Grimm

picture disc.Quick, think of five things others should know about you.

That’s the theme behind a series in UNMC Today called “Lookin’ at U.”

Each Thursday, we randomly select a medical center employee to feature.

This week, we feature Brandon Grimm, program associate in the College of Public Health.

Here, in his own words, are five fun facts about Brandon:
  • I have had many jobs in my life. I have worked at a dairy, a meat packing plant and a hog confinement. I’ve detasseled corn, walked beans and worked a livestock auction. I worked in a child care center, at a golf course, as a bartender, as a personal trainer and in cardiac rehabilitation as a graduate assistant. I’ve been a college instructor and a health educator. The last six years I have been with UNMC.

  • I am originally from West Point, Neb., home of the 2011 Cattleman’s Ball and of Wimmers Hot Dogs. (Maybe by mentioning these I will get free tickets and hot dogs?)

  • I have experienced Nebraska education at its best. I attended Northeast Community College in Norfolk for a year, received my bachelor’s degree from Wayne State College, a Master’s in Public Health from UNO, and I am working on my Ph.D. right here at UNMC.

  • I recently had my wisdom teeth pulled and realized it is very hard to live off mashed potatoes and ice cream for two weeks. However, I did lose 15 pounds so maybe I could turn it into a new diet fad.

  • When I was younger, I thought I would become a teaching golf pro and work at a course in Arizona. I soon realized I was not good enough and better go to college.

Read UNMC Today next Thursday to see who is featured in the next Lookin’ at U article. Who knows — it could be U.
