Health professionals needed to serve on 2010 state boards

The state seeks several health professionals to serve on health-related boards.

UNMC’s Office of Government Relations can assist UNMC employees in their applications for state boards and committees.

The government relations office provides letters of recommendation and other guidance to help employees secure such positions.

The application deadline for many of the current open positions is Aug. 1.




The boards provide for the health, safety and welfare of Nebraskans by ensuring that licensees and others meet standards of proficiency and competency.
Health professionals needed include:
  • Physicians;
  • Dentists;
  • Physical therapists;
  • Nurses;
  • Pharmacists;
  • Psychologists;
  • Mental health practitioners;
  • Perfusionists;
  • Medical nutrition therapists;
  • Audiologists;
  • Respiratory care practitioners; and
  • Medical radiographers.

Most board terms are five years and most require the applicant to be a Nebraska resident and have an active Nebraska credential (license/certification) for the past five years.

An exception is the Nebraska Center for Nursing Board, which has a deadline of June 21.

The deadline for other open positions is Aug. 1.

Duties include:

  • Administration of licensing examinations;
  • Recommending the issuance or denial of licenses;
  • Reviewing and implementing changes in legislation and regulations;
  • Complaint screening; and
  • Recommendations on disciplinary actions.
