Fiscal analysts from the University of Nebraska system, the Coordinating Commission on Postsecondary Education as well as legislative and executive branches of state government, tour new construction on the UNMC campus. The analysts viewed new buildings for the Colleges of Nursing and Public Health as well as the Home Instead Center for Successful Aging.
The tour focused on UNMC buildings under construction in order to review proposed completion dates and programmatic content housed within each of the facilities.

The facilities included in the tour were:

  • The new College of Nursing building;
  • The Harold M. and Beverly Maurer Center for Public Health; and
  • The Home Instead Center for Successful Aging.

Ken Hansen, assistant vice chancellor for facilities management and planning, led the presentations with help from Ron Schaefer, director of planning and construction for facilities
management and planning.

“I’ve been watching UNMC’s growth for a long time and it’s certainly been impressive,” said Kathy Tenopir, legislative program analyst and legislative council for the Nebraska Legislative Fiscal Office.

Others who took the tour included

  • William Scheideler, analyst in the Nebraska Department of Administrative Services (DAS);
  • Dennis Summers, state building division planning and construction manager for DAS;
  • John Heacock, capital construction analyst for DAS;
