UNMC’s progress and you the focus of Fall HR series

The ways you as an individual employee can help UNMC progress will be a focal point of the Human Resources Fall 2010 Learn@Lunch series, which kicks off Sept. 21.

The schedule of sessions is as follows (All sessions will be held in the Durham Research Center Auditorium from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Lunch will be provided to the first 150 attendees):

Tuesday, Sept. 21 — “Can Organizations Develop if Individuals Don’t?” with Janyne Peek Emsick, Ph.D, president of Integ2 Inc.

Leadership, commitment to excellence and working together are some of the values and personality traits that UNMC aims to embody. In this session, you’ll learn to apply these organizational values within your sphere of influence at UNMC.

Wednesday, Oct. 20 — “A Piece of the Puzzle” with Boys Town football coach Kevin Kush.

Kush will discuss the characteristics that bring excellence to the workplace including:

  • The ability to exhibit selfless behavior;
  • Respecting everyone;
  • Being accountable; and
  • Adapting to change.

Tuesday, Nov. 16 — “The Five Components of Excellence” with Jim Meier, president of The Training and Consulting Connection.

In order to perform at the level of excellence, a person must have five components working for them in tandem:

  • Information;
  • Motivation;
  • Proper Resources;
  • Fitness; and
  • Skills.

Meier will discuss an easy-to-grasp model including details underlying each component.
