This painting by Charles Courtney Curran, titled “On the Heights,” is among those in the “Landscapes in the Age of Impressionism” exhibit, which is on display at the Joslyn Art Museum. The exhibit will be highlighted during Passport Partners Day on Aug. 22.
Passport Partners Family day at the Joslyn Art Museum is Sunday from 1 to 4 p.m.

The day’s activities are part of the Passport Partners program between UNMC, The Nebraska Medical Center, UNMC Physicans and the museum.

“Landscapes from the Age of Impressionism” is the highlighted exhibition for this year’s Family Day. The exhibition includes 38 paintings from the renowned collection of the Brooklyn Museum and represents some of the finest examples of the late 19th- and early 20th-century landscapes by celebrated French Impressionist artists and many of their American peers.

Other events throughout the afternoon include:

  • Ballet Nebraska performing the pas de deux from “French Songs;”
  • A screening of “Linnea in Monet’s Garden,” a 30-minute short animated film based on the book of the same title about a little girl’s love affair with Claude Monet’s paintings; and
  • Music by harpist Mary Bircher.

Admission information

Admission to the museum — which is at 2200 Dodge St. — is for immediate family only, including two adults and dependent children of the same household.

You need to show your employee ID or a copy of the flyer that was sent to you at the entrance at Joslyn for free admission.

Other activities include:
  • Lovely Lillies, where you create a foam lily pad and flower to float in Joslyn’s reflecting pool;
  • Painting en Plain Air, paint in Joslyn’s sculpture garden working at an easel and using q-tips to dab quick marks of color just like the impressionists; and
  • Colorful Landscapes, where you can experiment with color by creating a decoupage landscape with tissue paper.

Cookies and punch will be available for UNMC employees and their family in the Omaha Steaks Conference Room.
