Music as Medicine kicks off Thursday, schedule released

Susie Thorne and her jazz band “friends” will return to kick off the seventh season of the “Music as Medicine” series with a free concert on campus next Thursday.

Where: Durham Outpatient Center – West Atrium

Who: Thorne — a Hastings native — is the daughter of a classically trained vocalist and a professional trumpet player who performed with jazz greats Lionel Hampton and Gerry Mulligan. Thorne herself studied piano performance at the University of Colorado at Denver and vocal studies at Academy of Vocal Arts.

Why: Thorne’s performance is part of the Music as Medicine Concert Series. Music as Medicine concerts are held on the third Thursday of each month with the exception of October (second week) and November (first week).

Patients and their family, staff, students, and the community are invited to bring their lunch and enjoy a fabulous concert.
