Volunteers sought to help with campus sustainability campaign

UNMC will soon launch a comprehensive and concerted sustainability campaign and your help is needed.

Long a local leader in environmental issues, UNMC has committed to step up its efforts in this area, as evidenced by its recent pledge to cut campus utility expenditures by 25 percent in the next five years. This reduction will:

  • Lessen UNMC’s consumption of energy and water resources;
  • Save the medical center millions of dollars, which can be used in other ways; and
  • Reduce stress on the environment.

Melanie Stewart and the UNMC sustainability team will host a meeting on Dec. 1 at noon in the Durham Research Center Auditorium for those who want to help with an upcoming campus sustainability campaign.

“This campaign presents a real opportunity to make positive changes on many levels and we look forward to hearing from the campus community about ways we can reach our goals,” Stewart said.

Those who want to help with the campaign but can’t attend the Dec. 1 meeting can can send an e-mail to sustainability@unmc.edu.
