Mayor, several council members to attend today’s ‘Salute to Omaha’

Campus invited

The campus community is invited to attend the event, which starts at 4 p.m. in the Sorrell Center Events Center foyer and will feature comments from Jerram, Gernandt and UNMC Chancellor Harold M. Maurer, M.D.

Mayor Jim Suttle and Omaha City Council members Pete Festersen, Chris Jerram, Garry Gernandt, Jean Stothert and Franklin Thompson will be among those in attendance today at a campus event to salute city leaders for their efforts to support UNMC and its growth.

The event is a chance to thank Suttle, the city council and other city leaders for their efforts on behalf of the medical center.

Suttle and the city council recently supported the closing of 40th Street on the medical center campus to make room for expansion, and the city has been a strong partner in the exploration of the feasibility of moving Saddle Creek Road to the west.
