What is your best memory from your time at UNMC?
In order to keep in line with HIPAA, I will just say that funny, embarrassing things constantly happen when seeing patients and each experience is equally memorable. I have to say that being first assist on a carotid aneurysm coiling has been my greatest experience yet.

When there was a giant earthquake in Haiti leaving miles of destruction, UNMC was one of the first institutions to lend a helping hand. Many departments worked together to provide excellent care to those left in the aftermath. Students were unable to participate in the delivery of care at ground zero for safety reasons, but this didn’t stop them from taking charge and organizing fundraisers to support the cause. It’s these kinds of events where the greatness of UNMC shines through and the rest of the nation looks to us as leaders.
List three things people may not know about you.
- I failed my drivers education field exam three times. The last time I was at the end of the driving part and forgot to rebuckle my safety belt, which led to automatic failure.
- I used to work on my dad’s hog farm and was quite often covered in, well, you know. This provided a good push to study hard so I wouldn’t smell like that my whole life. It also explains why I have no problem dealing with the nasty side of medicine.
- I love Reese’s candy and I want to find one of those one-foot tall chocolate Easter Bunnies filled with peanut butter.
